Kinda wonder whether her kicked-away-would-be-lover hears about her travelling with "another guy" and does something stupid out of jealousy or whether he's really just gone from the story.

Could Chiyozo be getting an education in the upcoming future? he is literally surrounded by monks now, surely eventually he will get some formation right?

I don't think he is mentally challenged, just had an unfortunate upbringing, or if he is maybe it is not that bad to the point that there's nothing they can do.

With that said, now that he is travelling with Azumi his chances of getting killed are higher.

I guess it could be hard enough even if he isn't truly mentally challenged - just his formative years are long past, and we can't be sure what kind of skills he did get as a kid.
