Going from the first four chapters of Babel to the first four chapters of Babel the 2nd is a trip. Or rather it doesn't even seem like the Babel hotel plays a major role here and the time shenanigans are a lot more overused, where Babel was a lot more of a low-key "24, but with time-travel" anti-terror plot. Maybe it was fantastic, but it felt like the fantastic elements were balanced by the more grounded, banal conflict with Chinese mobsters and international terrorists trying to start WW3. This is just "I have a cyborg arm that punches holes in Arab billionaires".
