Baki Dou - Vol. 17 Ch. 145 - What Is It Then!!?

Police-issue Taser guns typically have a longer range and shoot four darts instead of two. The voltage drops significantly after 5 seconds on some models so you gotta repeat the trigger pull. Thick or durable clothing is effective enough at warding off the darts, both on your person and better yet, worn on the arm as a flail. There are other drawbacks. Officers aren't supposed to rely on it without lethal back-up.

naah, I just do it to piss off people, my private group gets them all in full volumes. I don't post full volumes for free

@IchidoReichan Pretty sure that was Disrupted's point. Anyone who does things just to piss off random people on the internet seems pretty autistic lol

I don't mind though, I'm used to groups that release at such weird times with odd gaps for reasons much more obscure than autism.

@codetaku
yeah, if I were to give money to anyone for this series, it would be for Itagaki by importing the volumes.
Would rather learn japanese than pay some scanlator. The translations are supposed to be a passion thing and to spread the love and knowledge of a series. Have a donate button sure, but dont ask for money for something that isnt yours. (and dont be surprised if you get in legal trouble due to it)
Im not all in on the details, but pretty sure I've seen threads before about Ichido way back on the days of batoto as well. Long history of drama and whatnot.
He might get to some, but I at least follow several different series and am used to waiting years for scans for some, so meh.
I will thank Ichido for having translated a lot though, he just needs to lay off the drugs or something.

@Disrupted, Talking is way too easy and cheap for you...If I had this, I would do that.....

I've been doing this since 2003....Asking groups for help? trying to assemble a crew? releasing weekly chapters? you name it.
I've even stopped releasing and releasing chapters out of order...And you never came and replaced me with something better. Actually, nobody did. Even your thanks are half-assed at this point and that's why you fail.
It is 2018 and BAKI is licensed, there's a show produced by Netflix America.

[The translations are supposed to be a passion thing and to spread the love and knowledge of a series.]

Yet, I didn't see you bringing me the bunch of translations to my feet back in the day, did you? nobody did, for free.
Did you remember reading the 2nd series? finishing it in a binge? all happy memories for you. When I started learning scanlation, people didn't know jack-squat about the Baki world and I bought the series and scanned it for them. So the popularity of Baki, yeah, I own that.

(and dont be surprised if you get in legal trouble due to it)

Your excuses and method of thinking are as flawed as you are. You are in a pirate site that pirates all sorts of manga and somehow you "wish" you paid for manga? The best thing you can do is sit and wait for years!!? and you recognize it, you fat useless pig!!?

I don't smoke, nor drink. I have a very expensive hobby that is posting manga out of sequence and laugh at idiots like you.

I understand, you breathe and live this, for you its your life. Not necessarily for other people.

Sorry, but we're currently in Baki's comment section and I don't see the flaws. There is no official translation to pay for, as far as I'm aware, so "wishing to pay for it" is not something ridiculous. If someone wants to support the author, but also wants to get something they can actually make use of, what exactly is the flaw here? Paying You or any scanlator doesn't support the author in any way and paying You especially just pumps Your ego and gives You free time to visit comment sections to insult people (or insult them back in some cases) for not paying or being a bit annoyed by getting shit for free anyways, just not how they want it. You can't exactly hold not paying You against people, when this is how You treat them, right?

Seriously, You should probably chill for a while. Not only is Your current goal flawed (I'm here waiting for series to come out of hiatus for years and You're making a big deal out of providing free translations, just with some delay/ordering issues), but You also come off as incredibly petty/borderline silly to lash at people over something like this, while claiming You have "fun". Probably not good for Your health.

@IchidoReichan
You have been found to have violated 5.1, Be Civil, despite a previous warning from me here: https://mangadex.org/thread/25353/1/#post_166152

You have been issued a one day ban. You can still read manga, but you've lost your uploading and commenting privileges. Further violations will result in longer temp bans.

Thanks,

Zeph

@IchidoReichan
I should note that maybe I should have written "dont sell something that isnt yours" instead of "dont ask for money for something that isnt yours".
I understand that translations and scanning dont come free and the work is done at the expense of someones time, but I hope you at least asked politely for donations before reaching this point (I didnt follow the whole history of the translation, pretty much only started reading baki by the time dou was being translated).
Im currently pretty broke so it wouldnt make a difference but just speaking for myself but think this is likely for most too: Im much more likely to donate to someone polite than someone trying to start up shit and holding chapters at ransom (also not gonna affect me really since I've seen the raws months ago, proof without spoiler for others, the hint is "sister").
Hell, I'll NEVER donate to anyone holding chapters at ransom, no matter the series. This is a matter of principle since that is pretty much selling other peoples' work.

@disrupted: It seems that you don't grasp the concept that people work for a living. How much it costs to hire a pro translator?

for me:
It cost 50.00 to translate ONE full volume of Baki.
it cost 12 dollars for the physical book itself, to obtain best quality (not counting shipping and handling)
It takes two hours of scanning a volume, about 3-4 days to typeset (about 20-30 hours) one volume, and mind you. I have to go to work, that's a lot of hours and resources.

I'm done with "politely asking" a long time ago. If you want it, I got it, but you are obligated to chip in. If I'm so evil for doing that, then do your own....

(Oh wait, you DON'T speak Japanese either huh...?) wow, the supermarket is holding food for ransom too, Oh no, The mall is holding clothes for ransom too!! Hey look. The videogame industry is holding the videogames for ransom. So much evil in this world, huh? planes are holding plane tickets for ransom....et. al

[This is a matter of principle since that is pretty much selling other peoples' work.]

HAHAHAHAHAH!!! you crack me up dude, as if scanlations and this site itself wasn't infringing any copyrights

@IchidoReichan
All those comparison are people selling a product that its theirs. Not the same, I aint some fucking retarded commie. You dont own Baki.
Even for vidya and just speaking of my case, I havent pirated in ages and last time I did I later bought the real thing to support the company. (unsurprisingly countries with most pirating are those with less money, the missed sales argument is mostly false)

Scans and these sites work as free advertisement and for english-only speakers, the damage to their sales is completely fictional to a product that 99% of the west would never consume, a point only parroted by "the big guys" who already have their works licensed in the west and clueless businessmen. Laws arent magical perfect rules set by god.
If anything a lot of works get sales that they would never get otherwise. (I especially like that this website has amazon links for the products).
Im pretty sure most scanlators/translator do it as passion and not hiring someone to do it. (Usually its people with the skills themselves). I dont think 15 years around one series is the norm either. Those two facts together would amount to quite a heavy sum, that I can believe.
I do believe that you must really like this series, just that you should calm down, take a vacation or whatever. By how much you justify yourself one might be lead to believe that someone was pointing a gun to your head to translate this or release the chapters. I honestly dont care that much, just saying how it looks for someone on the outside;
Maybe your intention was just to organize a way to continually deliver a niche manga to an audience, but it ends up sounding like you are running a business with the intent of selling someone elses' product and stroking your ego.
I think you might be too involved to see how you are acting in an objective manner.
Giving you the benefit of the doubt I'll say with no sarcasm: I hope you find yourself in a more relaxed state of mind in the future and enjoy whatever you do. Be well.

The idiocy of this statement cancels any further sane discussion I could have with you. So, instead, I will leave you with this

https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2018-02-13/manga-creator-criticizes-publishers-attacks-on-piracy-sites/.127695

and my coup the grace:

[You don't own Baki.]

I don't.... yet, I own the translation materials long enough to piss you off and make you envious of what I have. You don't believe the fun I have posting future chapters. People here begs and keep begging me for the full series. Yes, I have it...Yes, it exists. But YOU WON'T GET IT!! I'm not interested in anybody's money here. My manga is not for sale but the most fun I have is that a few selected gentlemen in my collaborators' group already own the full set and they're satisfied with it and YOU WON'T GET IT!!! be happy with what I posted cause thanks to YOU. I won't post chapters ever again.

You do realize that is talking about Japanese websites right? How is the west gonna consume something in japanese when the extreme majority cant even read it? What impetus there is for someone to order something online of which they've never even had a nibble of? You just avoided the argument because you know Im right. (though I do agree that in the age of digital information the market of websites should be properly taken advantage of)

[ I don't... yet ]
You'll never own it. Hell, even if by some miracle they were looking for fangroup to do official translations just your record of acting like some sort of troll taunting the reader base would make they think twice before hiring you. (cant speak of the quality of translations, I've long heard of some accusations but dont have the skills to properly analyze how accurate they are)

[be happy with what I posted cause thanks to YOU. I won't post chapters ever again.]
You should go back to the basics if you love manly manga and dont even get what a child move it is to put the weight of your decisions on someone else.
Though if you wanna blame me go ahead. I dont mind. (note how I never asked you for chapters either).

Go take a vacation, preferably without any electronics, you clearly need a mental break.
I apologize for the stress I may be causing you by saying this, but I believe its better to say it and have some temporary stress on the person with possibility of some change being enacted in the long run (maybe its futile but hey, its an attempt) than never saying anything.
I sincerely hope you get to a better place (mentally) in the long run, and that you may at least break even with your investments into it (though I think we both know that is very unlikely).
I hope the fun you claim to be having while trolling people is genuine too. I dont wish any ill upon you. again, be well.

I'm just posting that Ichido Reichan is the most cancerous scanlator ive ever seen in 10 years of reading manga.
