Battle Royale

I never understood why they used that slang for the translation.

@ThanksLori Bit late on this, but if some or even all of these chapters are the TokyoPop offical English releases, that pretty much just means they should be attached to this group name TokyoPop (Ex-Licenses).

It's in the rules under 2.1 if anyone reading this is curious about that whole deal.

@thefifteenth If my uploads find someone that's willing to help me with that that'd be amazing. Translators I know are already too busy sadly

the quality of the pages is great but it's still the same bad translation by Tokyopop, I tried to read the manga a few years ago but couldn't get past the first volume because of the translation. Hopefully, someone decides to re-translate it in the future

also, isn't viz the current English publisher? did they release anything after that novel a few years ago?

Dumbass should've just pulled the trigger on the villain instead of giving a stupid long speech about morals and shit.

Funny how people tend to think things in reverse of the actual truth. This manga is the adaptation of the 1999 novel and was released in the same year (2000) as the movie which is also an international success (especially for a Japanese movie).

PlayerUnknown made the Battle Royale mod for Arma 2 (even became PUBG once released as a standalone) by being inspired by the movie.

Obviously, the elements in the Battle Royale is nothing new and has existed for far longer that this manga and its novel, but the novel was the first published work to explains things in a real gruesome and realistic way (at least early in the story). It's also the first to set the rules of Battle Royale (Last Man Standing + Open World + scavenging + part of the world become unavailable over time, shrinking the combat field over time.)

So, yeah, Fortnite is basically based remotely on this or, at least, its novel.

I physically cringe at the thought I have read this whole manga.
[MC kills only one person throughout the whole manga, when he is not too busy living in fantasy-land, going as far as to apologize to the main villain who killed two of his best friends.
Certain characters act way out of character, like in Mimura's arc final part, and I hated the useles midget.
I still am to understand why did the odd couple think that shouting from a gazebo during a hunger games situation was a good idea.
Final plot-twist makes it go up to guilty pleasure level.]
