I think it's more so along the lines of actual sex where there's (for some people cause I can't speak for everyone) the feeling of wanting TO consume/devour and TO BE consumed/devoured it seems like it's following that same line of thought as sexual desire afterall if just replaced eating with sex it's still make sense. The carnivores become boys and the herbivores become girls. Tem then becomes a closeted female who was raped and murdered.
