in the chapters where they explored Loius's past, they showed that he was adopted with the express intention of inheriting his father's business.

as for our world, certain positions are hereditary, or can also be given via a will.
for example, if someone is the founder of a company and a majority shareholder, they tend to effectively be the head of the company. since those shares are part of their estate, that can be inherited, thus making their heir the head of the company.

Also, while I am not a huge fan of sudden accidents invoking character growth generally, I didn't expect him to ACTUALLY die. There is a lot that can be done for Louis' character here, now that he formally shoulders the legacy of his father.

I wish that Oguma calculating his relationship with others had been established earlier. Bringing it up only to deliver the punchline of "but your value was incalculable" feels kinda lame... although the chapter title calling back to an earlier chapter title is clever.

This seemed a bit sudden. Then again, car accidents are always sudden.
That being said, while I'm not surprised he died, the ending of this chapter did seem a bit rushed. I think it would have felt more earned if they devoted an entire chapter or two to it rather than sticking it in the second half of this one.
