Was very cool and incredibly enjoyable and promising, but has been shitty for a good while now, lots of new things introduced and cliffhangers shown off that wont be nearly as impact as they are teased to be. trying way too hard to throw vaguely interesting ideas at you and then drop in another one before you have time to question the last one.

Nah, throwing a curve is how she does things. Melon has proved to be an...erratic individual, to put it nicely, who plays by his own rules.
Safe bet he intended to undermine the battles and sabotage them from the beginning. Trust in the mangaka. She hasn't let us down yet.
