Beatrice - Vol. 1 Ch. 23

thank god the art is good bc the writing is hooorrible lmfao idk how many more cliches i can take

I’m super uncomfortable with slavery (controversial I know). The water thing pissed me off. So I’m happy ML at least realized that that was kinda f*cked up. I’m really hoping he pulls an Abe Lincoln.

Also, FL is pissing me off with all his optimism. Dude, your a SLAVE! Come out with a way out of this! But my theory is that last time she got Cinderella-ed, she almost died. So now she’s decided to just be happy as a slave. But she’s still kinda pissing me off. At least cry.

wait so slaves are allowed to ask about wether or not they can have water or not without being pimped?

shit, i’ve been doing this whole snm thing wrong this entire time...

Is this water clean? Like she took clean water that horses aren't suppose to drink to give it to them? I'm a bit confused. Because she's saying the water is clean like it's suppose to be for horses to drink.

I'm pretty sure that water is fresh water...I mean...she seems like someone who would change out their water often so...

The water is probably fresh water assuming that they treat horses really well. Maybe even better than slaves. However, I’m thinking about saliva and I just can’t. I’d have to get to it first.

Okay, I am thinking this slavery thing is kinda exaggerated?
Like, let's try looking at history itself (and I am no expert myself, so I may be wrong). True, slaves were treated less then people and even domestic animals, worked to the bone and suffering a lot of abuse, but... They can't drink water without their master permission?
Like, dude, I kinda get it, but no. Because imagine if a slave could only drink water once per day, he wouldn't last :/ What I am trying to say is that, in some way, slave is an investment. Okay, not in this case because no one bought FL, but even if they are abused, you don't want then diying too early, you know what I mean? Is just... It's too ridiculous she can't drink water without permission.

@breizh
In all honesty, if the story says he can't get drunk then there's very little chance of him getting those things from alcohol. That's fiction for you. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If anything, Beatrice will likely find a remedy for that and he won't have to rely on alcohol anymore.

@breizh Not impossible. Other than size and sex, genes can also come into play with alcohol tolerance. Some people naturally create more enzymes that break down alcohol than other people, so they can tolerate alcohol better. (ex. Easterners of the same size and gender will get drunk faster than their Western counterpart.) It's not outside of the realm of possibility for someone to have a hard time getting drunk even on their first stint with alcohol.

Even if they don't get drunk, I agree they can still develop problems because of it.

Archduke can't get drunk that means one thing he is a wino. Archduke is a long line of winos.

I have some weird humor if I totally thought the Archduke seeing Chole drink the horse "dirty" water and Chole says the water is sweet.
(Don't take it out of context)

Btw, Chole needs to stop describing him... My inner fangirl just burst the limit of restriction of "it's 3am in the morning stop screaming/laughing to yourself".

I will only be happy if the male lead gets joffrey'd

Also female lead is not like other gorlls, she has feelings....and hopes and dreams...who knew women were capable of that. Astounding

Male leads character design looks like he has a stick half shoved up his a$s one hundred percent of the time not gonna lie

Also the energy he gives off is so weird lmao I really can’t-

What an unfortunate situation to fall in love. I at least hope they're able to fix the problems that will come along with it in a healthy manner.

I actually read not because of ML, but because of FL. I just enjoy her optimism, like the sort that makes you want to protect her - though I'm certainly scared. I don't want her to end up with ML, or anyone at this point. I want her to live her life freely, maybe even escaping that place. Or maybe she'll get adopted by the doctor dude? So she'll stop being a slave? I like her optimism but gosh, living as a slave is not comfy. Maybe for her but holy crud

So, he knows slaves can't drink unless given permission - and it never occurred to him to do that multiple times during a forced march? When she's NOT EVEN HIS SLAVE?! M'f'er, he's right, he's definitely not someone fit to rule an empire (can't even keep his own staff provisioned on a patrol for the love of the God-Emperor...)
