Beatrice - Vol. 1 Ch. 40

oh no Chloe might be caught as the princess. The dad though was being way overdramatic and homophobic. I thought I was going to laugh longer about the misunderstanding.

I believe in a more rondabout plot: she's not the baby left to die in the woods, but her birth circunstances make them believe she is. So, in this case will have a ton load of unnecessary drama (their forbidden love, she being used as a pawn) to be used in the story. Will be necessary a lot of chapters until someone unveil the real truth, making the "real" love possible again, because they are meant to be together, and everybody has to accept. A incestuous plot would be rejected by the public, that's for sure. In my opinion, all this is a little bit too ridiculous, isn't it?

This isn't a homophobic thing but a family succession thing. You can't just adopt a child and make them a legitimate heir. They need to have a direct blood connection with the king in order to pass along the line. If neither the father or the son have siblings then it means that all his evil deeds were for nothing because his family's reign ends with his son . Not only that, but with no legitimate heir to the throne the country may fall into chaos and possibly civil war over it after the son dies leading many other nobles/supporters to rebel earlier in order to install a new king that will have a family line to pass down.

I'd honestly rather have Chloe end up being the princess than have some random girl later show up be the princess.

As far as I understood, people in comments think that Chloe is the king's baby that he abandoned but I don't think that is true bcs there would be too much age difference between ML and FL and fans would not like that so I am 99 % sure that Chloe is not that baby but I would like if that girl comes later in the story. Also, I don't understand why are people shocked about king being homophobic, we need to consider an Era this whole manhwa is taking place, in the past being gay was unacceptable bcs of the whole succession thing.

@eng1

1) That's impossible. The king already brought her to the castle for political marriage, which he already used her for. As far as he was concerned, she had served her purpose.
2) Then they wouldn't be siblings. (even if they did have a blood relation)
3) Highly unlikely, given that one was the king and the other was the wife of a duke from a separate country. ( @breizh )

@ArpanaR Exactly. We'll definitely see the sister, but she has likely yet to show up. They might still throw her in as a love rival for the FMC while all the characters are unaware that this new character is actually his sister. Or she might serve another purpose. (part of a rebellion against the Archduke, maybe?)

wow this sucks! lol i cannot believe how long they have dragged on this homophobic subplot. between this and the absolutely ridiculous comments on this chapter, im finally dropping this fucking trash fire lol. see ya!

@MaNoChan Heavens or not aside, there's a large practical difference between incest and homosexual. Incest can produce a child with genetics not diverse enough and will weaken the child, if you repeat for a few generations then you start getting severe mutations.

This is because everyone inherits a few 'broken' genes, but we have 2 sets of DNA(One from each parent) for a reason, if one is broken, then we just use the other one, and the odds of both sets having the same broken gene are incredibly low... unless your family tree is lacking branches.

HAHAHAHHA THIS BITCH DRAMATIC AS FUCK. i, for one, think this subplot is absolutely hilarious ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Chloe is Princess Beatrice from Elpasa, not the brown haired blue eyes old dude from another country’s most likely dead daughter. His daughter would have darker hair and blue eyes.

@idiyona - I agree that this is the track of the father's thought process. He literally laments having killed off a child who would have been a second option, and it's too late now to adopt and train up a successor. Since alexandro has refused the throne (and it's probably to politically fraught to find a girl of suitable lineage who can pretend to be his son's wife), there's likely no option to adopt a "grandchild" to train, either.

@moderateTrouble dang you’re intolerance will be missed

(even if it was homophobic that one character doesn’t reflect the entire story or the author but I guess I’m homophobic now that I said that)

thx for the update!

This isn't going to turn into a plot twist later on where they think our MC is that baby and therefore his sister, right? Right?? Please tell me it won't.

@HiddenFan Historically there is a reason why many societies made it frowned upon to be homosexual. Back in the day with monarchical ruling systems, blood relations mattered a lot more. Your family name and nobility mattered, ending your bloodline is considered disastrous. I believe that at some point in time, the church and the crown got together to create passages in Christian/Catholic texts that made homosexuality out to be a sin to make its acceptance heretical to reduce the risk of both noble and royal bloodlines ending. You also see this with old testament laws like eating shellfish being a sin, the reason why this text exists is because our dumb asses didn't know about microbiology and how dangerous it is to eat dead shellfish, it's clear that a silly passage like this exists to prevent the general masses from getting themselves killed.

Hell, even being a bachelor was seen as disgraceful just a few decades ago.
