On one hand, I’d rather bathe with a toaster than read anymore of this.
On the other, I keep on reading.
The biggest crime that the main handsome-squidward looking boyo has perpatrated is that he’s so incredibly boring, the carriageman is a more compelling character. The carriageman whos personality maybe dreamt of being a tsundere one time.
Warning:rant ahead lmao.
Its like everybody kinda???? has a personality trope???? But not rly??? ???? They’re all so bland and there’s literally no rhyme or reason to the events that take place. They just sorta happen and we’re just supposed to believe that the grand duke (or whatever the absolute highest position of power is, god forbid a ML these days is somehow gasp!! A baron or something!!!) falls in love with the girl who shines his shoes or whatever because he never, ever, once in his life, met a girl who didn’t bellyflop before him and ask to have his kids plz?? Its so nice that the horsewater drinking girl conveniently is also a princess in hiding, just to make sure that they def can get together in the end. How fortunate that her entire royal family was just 100% evil, totally unsalvagable and somehow deserved to be murdered and allegedly raped, and he could just see the good in her I guess? (not my words and not really anybody elses. I’m hyperboling to bait ya lmao. But really, stop insisting on that point). Just to make sure he’s edgy but not toooooo unredeemable. Can’t have a not-plot without the heroine uncovering that he’s not as bad as she thought at first! The entire staff of her mansion/castle murdered? Guys that just happened in the middle ages lmao [hot take: it did not] and was just the sensible thing to do cmon, that entire innocent staff that additionally costs resources to replace could like, be loyal to the family that was apparantly so terrible. [again, no, nobody in their right mind would kill off staff. Thats insane].
Tldr: Plot=no rhyme no reason. Characters=no thyme no season. Really terrible and boring ML with convenient excuses for his actions, really pandering and boring FL.
This is long because I hate myself and I wrote like 2 sentences and then I realized that I’ve come to hate the otome genre and couldnt help the word-vomit, this is so freeing. Please save your eyeballs and sanity and go re-read bakarina or Duke’s daughter. Not going to read what I wrote just like the author of the novel which spawned this unholy amalgamation of otome and shoujo tropes most likely did not. Also I’d delete it out of shame. Uhm I wish you a good day.

It's like watching reality TV: pure trash but you keep goingI like this comic. Y’all trashing it like it’s The Emperor’s Companion, now those characters were impossible to like. What’s even crazier is I see stories with love that starts off with rape or females that cry nonstop get rave reviews. It’s cliche and problematic to romanticize toxicity. If he’s from a culture that normalize slavery, him treating her like a person is a way for the author to show his character. If you don’t like it go read something else like one of those “I’ve been reincarnated into a book but still think the book should follow its original plot because I’m an idiot MC” type stories.

@theilikepie i don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t remember him beating her. Again there’s stories with way worse main characters. Besides pacing this isn’t that bad. He really treat her like a servant. The translators could have changed slave to servant and y’all wouldn’t even be this hyped up.

Such a great art yet boring.
Their expression looks too artificial and exaggerated in a dramatic way.
Too much self-thought, no action. All characters are narrated passively.
For example :
The male lead expresses his thoughts about the bastard who dared to sell his wife for profit be like :
"Disgusting humans!"
The male lead expresses his thoughts what if he has a normal family be like :
"What a useless thought.."
The male lead expresses his thoughts on how his world is, with hands that tarnish the lives of others, be like :
"How tiresome.."
He is hot alright, but his mighty side just made too obvious. Introducing conflict becomes meaningless and more conversations are not important.
This is my third reading and my answer still no.

I came hear to express how this webcomic (and the webnovel from which it originates) are yet another drop of water in the sea of generic, mediocre, easy plots with no spice to them. How the art is pretty in the same way that thousands of other webcomics out there are pretty, without there being anything else to it. How this whole work is flat, flat, flat. Uninspiring.
