Who the fuck hires a peasant as a gate keeper? They already had holly knight as one, why not hire another?
Another edgy power creep manga, there sure are a lot of them.
I mean, it seems so edgy at the outset, he's screaming consume in his mind and yet he's not actually eating anything. It's just some abstract form of gluttony.
I mean the manga could've kind of set itself apart if he actually ate his enemies and his powers revolved around eating monsters and being influenced by what he eats. (KIRBY, cough, cough)
Then you could power creep the MC while he internally fights what he's becoming. Give him something to protect so that he has a reason to strive for power, so he consumes more monsters, but make it so that the person he wants to protect is some righteous heroine or something or an innocent who can't stand evil. So that the more power he gains the closer he gets to losing the things he loves. That's drama.
But no this is the typical "OH I'M A LOSER, BUT WAIT, I SUDDENLY HAVE THIS POWER, KILL THINGS, GET GIRLS, DO MORE EDGY STUFF."
A real pity, because I do like the kind of story where a loser works toward becoming the most powerful person, there just seems to be a general lack of creativity in this genre.

Just imagine what the ladies must say: "What is that smell? Oh look, there goes Brerick Lafal who hasn't washed for 3 years. Apparently he can't tell he is filthy since dirt is invisible to him."

Reminds me of all the commenters who keep writing "eDgElOrD lololol" when they mean chuuni. Probably the same morons who use "cringe" as an adjective (self-descriptive as it is). Well, more padding for the block list.
