Berserk - Vol. 40 Ch. 356.1 - Jötunn (Part One)

Uh...well, fuck. I mean, I like cool battles as much as the next guy but right now I'm way more interested on what happened to Casca than on Griffith fighting some giants.

Well, at least we now know that miura was just using a different style for the fairy island stuff, the artstyle in this chapter was godly, like it used to be.

I have no idea why I didn't expect to get blueballed. This always happens with Berserk. At least we won't have to wait 7 years on a boat again.

New chapter, which is short as hell, that doesn't follow up on the previous cliffhanger. But at least the art is really fucking good? Miura, please.

I expected Rickert. Hopefully this is a legit Griffith POV and not a cop-out. Last time we barely had any insight into his thoughts.

Massive respect to scanlators for doing a great job on removing the watermarks. If only those hamster loving apes would stop watermarking their shitty quality rips. When will berserk get the quality it really deserves

And...this is the moment when Berserk died in my heart. I've been reading this manga for 16 years, and it feels like 14 of those years have been waiting patiently for Casca to regain her senses and for ONE damn good thing to happen for Guts. And finally! Finally, we get to see her wake up, only to be wrenched away to follow Griffith, who's still every bit as dull and boring as he always has been.

Miura seems to hate fans of Berserk, and in fact I think he hates Berserk itself. If this is any indicator, my guess is that he always intended for Griffith to be the focus even if Guts was the narrative eye, but Griffith's a throwaway enemy at best. No one cares about him. This is the Game of Thrones of manga; the author doesn't give a crap about it anymore but has nothing else to offer.
