Attempts at redemption require a lot more than just half-hearted apologies, and he really needs to know how low he went for someone that's supposed to become a future Emperor. Just because Melissa was full of crap as her old self doesn't mean what he did would be justified in anything other than the Korean "woman was always wrong" relationship attitude, and that was from the new-Melissa's view point which makes it clear it was still wrong as hell. Plus, you know, trying to court her new best friend right in front of her after the whole previous debacle too.

Ian has to learn that his reputation and power are a vast responsibility, and not just a standard - and that the support of the Podebrats should not be some absolute guarantee when he himself has admitted it was to be a marriage of convenience and power.

why am I softhearted in the weirdest ways? I'm weak to people showing their weakness but thank god I have a great memory as well and my mind overpowers my heart every time. I was pitying the guy but I had to remember that:
- He cheated on his fiancée multiple times
- He made her out to be a crazy bitch that has to be escorted out of the building when he is a cheating garbage that was lying there with another woman
- He continued to think that because he is the crown prince, he is entitled to everything
- He fell in love with Yuri just because of her looks (I don't believe love, at first sight, is a thing, the attraction is a thing but if you pursue it especially when you still have a fiancée, you're garbage)
- He basically only "loves" Melissa now because she rejected him and acted indifferently to his advances and stopped stalking him which was something he felt empowered by (being loved and persued)

@RaikohZX this whole chapter actually made me sympathize with him a little, if only because yes, redemption is hard to gain, especially if your track record is as bad as ian's. i actually like how he's had such a huge change of heart though, even if he's going about it poorly (and also trying to win melissa over is futile considering nine exists). i guess rather than sympathy i more pity him

Ok my theory in the hair color mystery is that the artist might be working with a screen tablet that shows a slightly different saturation level from normal monitors and screens. The hair does look just a tad more dull than previously. It does happen from time to time when working with subtler shades.
