This reminds me of the "British Pet Massacre", which saw hundreds of thousands of pets being 'put to sleep' by their owners at the government's suggestion during WWII. That sad episode left many of the former owners regretting their decision afterwards. I just thought I'd share this; it's morbid, but we're in the comments section of a horror manga anyway.
