For some reason, even with the (as of the last 10 or so chapters, slightly) stagnant progress and interactions between the two, and even the other characters, I don't really feel that this isn't going anywhere. The author hit a nice spot that most 4koma authors would kill to get at, who either can't write, or write themselves in a corner within the first 10-15 chapter/pages.
