A small allowance is one thing. Even no allowance, if your family is on the poor side or if the parents want you to be self-reliant or not do frivolous things or whatever. But an allowance one third the size of your sibling's is just not on.

Remember getting like $0.50 as my daily allowance up until high school. Had to walk four to five miles everyday because I couldn't afford public transport. That on top of having to work right after school ended and studying late at night to keep my grades up was tough.

My allowance was I was allowed to eat, had a roof over my head, and would be permitted to watch TV for up to an hour when we were home so long as I did my chores and it wasn't past 10pm.
I'm seriously jealous of all who ever got an allowance. Never was given the freedom to buy what I wanted without taking it through my parents first.

Back in high school, my allowance converted to dollar doesn't reach $1 lol. Then again 3rd world life.
