I also share the opinion that Yamada x Kobayashi would be a really cute concept, given the amount of scenes of them being clingy to each other. But again, this is a pretty straightforward boyxgirl story. It's just how it is, as Ichikawa is the MC and Yamada is the main girl.

People that keep saying there isn't romance probably aren't very used to romance manga, lol. Most of them build slowly, hell, some taking several chapters for the characters to even start blushing. Boku no Yabai is way faster than general romance stories in this aspect.

You know, I'm actually giving Pickup-pai the benefit of the doubt. If Kobayashi told him that Yamada decided not to go after all and he still wants to go with Kobayashi, then he isn't all scum.

@Tactless What's there to doubt? He was clearly and transparently only interested in Yamada, but when it looked like she can't be directly asked out somewhere, he instead asked the friend. When the friend said okay, Pickup-pai immediately said Yamada surely comes along as well since her friend is going. The dude's training himself for a future of a nanpa master. It was a scummy move trying to exploit the vulnerability of a less popular friend. Of course as an offense it's still not that much, so it's not like it would make him a total scumbag or anything.

It's very apparent to me that Yamada is conscious of the fact that Ichikawa always seems to be hovering around, just within earshot when there's some sort of turmoil taking place. While some might think this is merely coincidence, she definitely takes comfort in knowing he's there, looking out for her, in his own way. She's a socially awkward dork at times, but lately she's been taking more initiative in speaking with and getting to know him; and it's only a matter of time before they come to an understanding, in their own, goofy way.

That being said, I believe the classic trope of persistent rival with paisen will inspire Ichikawa into action, somehow.

Wait, why is Nanjou an asshole all of a sudden? I mean, yeah, he's overtly and openly interested in a person/relationship and in mangalogic that is evil. But I don't think that there was anything too hidden in that interaction here (oh, you are averse to coming to place x alone? How about coming with friends? I'm ok with it.). I mean, I completely understand why mc hates him(although even he admits that nan-pai isn't all bad) for ruining his fantasies, but the response from others is weird.
