@minmanga simplest way to say it is that “boku” is a more polite and less “manly” way to say “I”, while “ore” is seen as casual, rough, or tough-guy like. Both still mean “I”, and are used by men (for the most part). The point is that he is letting down his shield slowly. Btw boku is written 僕 and ore is written 俺 if you decide to read up on it.
