Why do you think kids have been fleeing the country for the cities for generations? Even before the internet? Or why kids who were raised in super-religious households sometimes go atheist when they grow up?

The desire to be independent comes about naturally for kids growing up, and some kids will naturally chafe with their parents. Also kids will begin to have their own opinion about things and see things from their own point of view. Not all kids of course, but some do.
