This is turning out to be more psychological horror than anything -- this kid literally can't accomplish anything without his godly mother interfering, which means he can't ever experience the world and ends up glorified but unfulfilled. Maybe this new sensei figure can shake things up and help with the situation, because I don't see anything progressing notably until his mother's meddling is at least partially removed.
