@razarulz I'm sure they'll give some manga-like reason why there are no guns, I'd make shotguns mandatory for those things, hell I'd have them handed out at the front door as a government-sanctioned dungeon safety package.

@kevmasterzoc I think that could be the case. It could also follow premise of the novel Dungeon Hunter, wherein all electronics and modern weapons don't work in dungeons and people had to resort to using cold weapons.

While I can understand omitting some things for the sake of entertainment...
Why would you make a "dungeon" story taking place in a modern setting where people wear primitive weaponry ?
I mean, there's no point in using a modern setting if you don't use anything that's modern, even this poor snow plough didn't make it.
You see the military dudes equipped as any modern army and our MC seems fine entering a deadly dungeon with a knife ? There's something wrong at this point.
For the sake of entertainment, it's also nice that things make sense. Except when a story is clearly made to be a huge non-sense for fun, except it doesn't really seem to be the case here since there's nothing exceptionally funny about the setting and its interactions with the story so...
I don't get it.

tl;dr : why use a modern setting if nothing modern is used ?
