yep. If you remember in chapter 1, Douglas stated that if a curse is forcefully broken by anyone but the one who casted it, it would rebound on the original caster themselves. So when it is rebound from being forcefully broken by accident, Alan's (the hero) power gets drained so badly that he eventually loses his almost all of his stats and he is no longer called a "hero", but "jobless" or "unemployed"
