@Robbini If there is a way to curse someone into a different form, there should be a magic to shape shift into a different form. It would be strange if the only form changing magic is a curse.
@Taerene The fact that they noticed her clinging to him when they arrived and realized there was more going on was great. Shows just how competent they are. I still think they were wary of Douglas considering the circumstances, but things were set straight once they found those documents.
@Svelandria Even if I believed there was more going on there I'd definitely have remained wary of him too. Dude left a lot of evidence around the area that he could probably tear through them like wet paper if he wanted to. Might have been 50/50 "We see the girl's current behavior" and "Well, I don't feel like dying today."
Who'd thunk the fat, old, eyes always closed man was actually nefariously evil...
Along with the poor world building like how the MC initially is brought down to such a low level of society despite being a top ranking adventurer in a world where being highly ranked is prestigious. There's such an unconvincing portrayal of how he was brought down, and somehow lost all his credibility, how there are concepts of numerical HP and MP without game/isekai themes is beyond dumb.
However at least the relationship between the Douglas and Ravi is interesting. That's what we're all here for I guess, I've read dumber fantasy worlds with characters I liked even less.
