The fiancee's mother is furious and throws Douglas out, afraid he'll spark her daughter's madness again. Bruno's parents are far more appreciative of the recovery, but refuse to accept the remains or make an official grave, to protect the fiancee's remaining sanity. Although Bruno is saddened, his base regret is fulfilled and he automatically passes on. Douglas and Ravi leave the village the next day; it's implied Bruno's remains are buried in an unmarked grave.
