@Doomer pretty sure that this chapter has already answered that question. There are two Alan right now: one, the sickly and almost dead guy and the healthy, active Alan.

If you add the fact that a curse was placed on MC at the beginning and we didn't really get a confirmation of Hero being an arse, it just means one thing: whoever did MC dirty has moved to the Hero, which led to him becoming the same, if not even worse than MC was at the beginning.

I believe there is a third party involved and Hero is genuinely a good guy and that Ravi isn't in any actual danger, not with the sick Alan at least.

Also, all of this is just a conjecture and no spoiler at all. I did not read the novel at all.

@Hypothon Unfortunately author never got around to explaining the curse/Alan's motives in the WN. They dropped updating the WN since last year and went to write other titles instead.

In fact, the stuff about Alan's doppelganger and the lemonade stand wasn't in the WN at all - likely an addition for the LN/manga version.
