Props to the author, despite this series being a non-stop stream of misery, I did not anticipate this development. He intermingles the small, sweeter moments really well and the characters are really strong.
I think this manga could be really good if he just spaced the tragedy out a bit more so it'd be a little bit more surprising when it does hit.
