either the newspaper is wrong or he's a friend with the guy who killed himself and took up his 'role' or something like that
OR MAYBE HE'S GAY AND IT WAS HIS BOYFRIEND WHO DIED and at the time he was either crossdressing or he told some other girl to take his place in the newspaper. maybe that some other girl was reiji's mom.
maybe the mom liked the guy who died which is why she hates esemori
