Bungo - Vol. 4 Ch. 34 - Mere Idealism

And that's why everyone who usually has their eyes shut in Japanese fiction is scary as heck.

I'll be interested to see what route they take to make this different to the existing similar baseball manga. So far to me this has felt very similar to Major, and I can see it falling in with the same tropes as we've seen a lot before "There's no time to learn and master a breaking ball before X tournament", so we end up with yet another baseball manga protagonist who can only throw fastballs. It's "exciting", I suppose, but when it's been done to death already it doesn't leave a lot of room for interesting and unexpected character growth.

@JoebRogers Totally agree. I'm hoping Bungo goes in a direction similar to Sawamura (especially in Act II). I don't need him to pull out a buncha change ups the way Sawamura does, but it'd be nice to see him learn to be strategic with his pitches and pick up something other than a fastball. Maybe the fastball can then come out more prominently in tense situations. ɿ(。・ɜ・)ɾ

@Xing5eki Yeah, as long as we get to see a bit more variety in plot direction and character arc then I'll be happy. Especially since very early on when he swapped to his left and got all the extra 'spin', all it made me think was "Well, this is just Goro's gyro ball isn't it?".

I wanna see him improve overall in the other aspects of the game before he goes about learning breaking balls. Learn how to field and bat first smh
