That whole discussion made me dizzy. It servers the plot, but the way the development went, i didnt like it. His mother didnt needed to be sacrificed as a cruel villain, the humiliation at school didnt need to go so far and Souta and Haru could have had more time to create a stronger bond before the end. Their romance still feels superficial in a way. More like good friends than lovers. Thats my personal opinion anyway.

And how would've people react if Souta just parted ways with Haru, realizes love can't be bought with pocket change, apologized to Yuri (bc he is self aware his selfishness was what drove Yuri in a vengeful spree. Something that axe couldn't make it expand) and gave her a legit chance after sorting things with his environment?

Nvm, it would've gone full Gal Cleaning meltdown if that happened.
