I think it's implied to be hard physical works (in tuna boats and the like), basically the type of works you'd do as punishment, combined with the exile to faraway uncomfortable places, it's intended to be prison replacement

Unsatisfactory...I feel cheated out of the time I spent reading this chapter! Pretty shitty--I doubt someone would spend 3 more years of their life after prison to find a person he KNEW couldn't prove his innocence IF he were guilty....maybe a few months but not 3 years.
I'm disappointed.

@Queenvon I don't think it's as unlikely as u said it is. Memories are very hazy, it's not uncommon for someone to remember some moments as how they feel at the time instead of what really happen at the time. It's possible in his memories later on he really didn't stab the girl, if every time he retraced that events he felt innocent about it.

I must admit the plot in this one is a bit flimsy... why call shinra for this at all? it makes no sense... he could ahve just revealed himself whenever he wanted, shinra was only here to make the reader believe that girl's father was the bad guy just so the plot twist at the end would be more twisty.
Not impressed. :/

Yea agree with Allexio, Shinra's involvement here is very forced. Shouldn't the culprit uncover it himself for him to uncover it, or at least the father should've directed him to Shinra, so that puzzle could be solved
