I wasn't expecting a job interview or anything, but some sort of cut to the main cast showing their knowledge and excitement for Maron to show up would have grounded things a bit more.

I would've preferred if the least of it was just her asking for a job, for sure. The way it's set up here is more like she demands one, and they're just supposed to be happy about it. "I work here now. You're welcome."

Imagine her going through that really dramatic farewell party at the maid café and then when she shows up at Nekotamari they go "sorry, we don't really have the budget to hire another waitress, but the place right next to us were looking for a cute cat girl. Try them." =P

Maid cafe's are really only a big thing in japan. I can't imagine it being that popular anywhere else in the world. It just fits that otaku and idol culture. Watching japan from the outside often feels like looking through a portal in a different world. In a good way of course.
