Caught by the Villain - Ch. 41

I hope Selena (it's so hard not to call her Celestine lol) drank it to make the fight more exiting, but she might have not considered him a threat at all and that's why she drank it? Also Rowan in the previous chapter being suddenly terrified of her is interesting, cause he observed her before and didn't look scared, yet now he is? Did he meet the real Celestine and he is actually scary (maybe he considers himself weak because he has always fought his monster of a sister and their father but he is actually strong? book!Celestine did end up as the Prince's escort)?

never ever drink or eat something that's offered by your opponent before a contest or competition. seriously. how did she even fell for that smh.

Man what the heck I hate it when characters eat or drink something offered by their opponents -_- Worst trope ever, I was enjoying the series so much till now

Mc too op and fast guess I’ll just make em drink extremely suspicious water before the big fight

There's no way Selena was stupid enough to drink poison. Either she's confident it won't cripple her and she will still win, or she's confident of neutralizing it somehow. I mean, there was a time skip we don't know about between drinking the poison and starting the duel.

Of someone told me to drink sometime before a battle I would definitely find that suspicious but she just drank it like that

Either the writing is terrible or Selena drank that knowing it was poisoned and did it on purpose

Thanks for the mass releases! 😊

But how could she drink that? The lie was so transparent that even the other knight hesitated to give her the canteen. 🤔

She drinking that stuff seemed so mega random. They are already verbally at each others throats "but here drink this first... *looks nervous* No, wait! Uhhhh, actually just do it, I totally didn't do anything suspicious to it!"

I hope she was roughly aware of it. If not, this was a really badly inserted plot device... Actually, even if she was aware of it, the scene still felt strangely obscure (does he even try to hide it, really...)

Couldn't he at least have switched out the bag she usually uses or something or snucked the poison into her normal meal, instead of just giving it to her directly before the match face-to-face in the most obvious way...

That scene just was a real let-down to me. I'm still somewhat curious how the fight will proceed, but that was such a bummer :s

"Your opponent is a mercenary. Be ready for anything."
Her opponent: "Hey, drink this."
Our protagonist: "Sure, absolutely!"

WHY WOULD YOU DRINK SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T PREPARE AND BRING YOURSELF?! I really hope there is some 5D chess going on here because otherwise this is so wildly out of character it is possibly going to take me out of the story. She is so suspicious and so keen and that is so not like her to do that.
