It's a good fighting manga/drama. Keeps things interesting in either arena. But the setting is merely a vehicle for the plot. To that end it's at least depicted well and you do get a few relevant historical tidbits. Read Ad Astra - Scipio to Hannibal if you want a historical drama (emphasis on historical) set a couple centuries prior to this.
