Maybe they cheer her sister on harder for her personality needs to be praised to feel motivated and they see Chihaya as more self-motivated (they should still actively cheer her on too everybody needs to feel praised for their hard work)

I think this was the first time we even saw the dad? Scrapbooking is an interesting hobby for one. I'm not sure mine has ever even known how old either of his kids are without checking.
