Chiisakobee - Vol. 3 Ch. 28

Shigeji ascribing all sorts of philosophical thought to that child's fear. That girl is so smart for being so young.

It's actually not that unusual for kids that age and even older to experience a deep existential anxiety. My daughter went through a few months of being afraid of the dark, because it made her think about her own death.

@gronkle
maybe it's because my dad has a degree in peadology and always talks about this kind of stuff but i find it pretty fascinating.
i'm happy that the manga seems to have a big focus on the experience of growing up and the different stages of that like all that puberty-related stuff a few chapters ago.

Damn, I wonder how long the first page took to draw, given the amount of detail everyone is going to ignore and turn/click to the next one in three seconds.

Frankly, the kid would probably be more reassured talking to Shigeji about how cool her imagination is for a while than by being told to think about nice kitties.
And yeah, that dad is scary. Although I'm not sure I'd be able to not look at those pics.

This gives me flashbacks to some of my dad’s more “creative” parenting moments.

Those pictures in the title page is legit scary. Not the pictures itself, but rather the implication that they are products of a child's imagination/mind.

Nicely juxtaposed with Shigeji's dirty mind, because while it's funny, it's a very basic instinct taking over adult's imagination.

With how sombre this manga is, the returning gag of the dad and the photos always absolutely destroys me
