I understand that this rule exists, however, I am not sure what they posted could even be called a translation.

Lol you should look at R402.

They may be using jokes or memes, but if it's only partial (as that's what seems to be the case with that particular series) and the usage isn't necesssarily straying away from the actual script, it doesn't violate that rule.

If you can actually prove they're just making their own stuff up then the rule applies, I think. E.g. original script is "A" and they typed "B", not original "A" they typed "A" but with shitty memes.

Anyone who bothers to open up the manga I'm referencing can tell the translation isn't accurate. Obviously, you are just here to bait. Goodbye.

First of all, just because Chillock messed up the scans of another manga doesn't invalidate my point. Also, I'd like to hear from a site admin what the interpretation of the rule is or at least a precedent of another group allowed to cater to memelords.

@kanami-chan @sterven that doesn't really work for 99% of us though. its not like we actually know japanese. hell most of us don't even know how to get them moon runes into google translate in the first place. (how does one type out the correct moon rune??) as an extra, If a group does their own translation then there will be no script.

but in the latest chapter when they throw that chick and a character says "begone thot", while its possible that's an accurate translation, it "feels" more like a meme in place of the actual translation.

as an example there is a group "EZ Rewriter" that is banned on MD because the guy literally does not translate and makes his own script based on the chapter/series. No way for the majority of people to know it wasn't real because the script works.

These are volunteer works, done by (mostly) unpaid translators.
Perhaps you can do the scanlation yourself and make it up to your standard?

I see where you're coming from and i'd agree that some of the language is rather coarse but my problem isn't with the translation at all, my
gripe is with this guy he "claims" that the translation is off without so much as a slick of proof and hopes to get a series off of MD based on his
assumptions. What I don't understand is if he can't stand Chillock's work so much then why does he continue to read it? Why the hell doesn't he
just ignore or block his releases like a normal person would?

i agree with you there, that's exactly what i do. Ignore it and move along.

for most of us who are capable of ignoring things, its a non issue really. For people that can't just ignore it, they only have a "feel" to go off of. Bad translation or grammatical errors aside you can "feel" when a meme starts getting used on a part that it shouldn't be. If the translation is passable up to those points and the "mood" of the chapter gets broken by the inserted meme it really begins to feel like the translator didn't actually translate that part and just inserted something for lulz.

personally, if like 90% of it is good i don't think it should be removed and just leave it be. but where does that threshold really become unbearable? 50%? 60%??? i have no idea

I looked at the first chapter of the series, but I'm not a fan of that sort of guro-manga.

But I do have to say that scanlators are too valuable to be chasing them out without just cause. I'de fall into the group that can't decipher the raw's moonscript text, and have to accept the TLs spin on the dialogue offered in their uploads. I understand that the original text may be gibberish when translated perfectly to english. That means at times we must hope for a individual, or team that's fluent in both languages, to modify the raw translated text into meaningful dialogue again. That means they have to be given some creative licence to do so. (Just not to the point they become another Olddog or EZ ReWriter) Yet I do enjoy TL commentary in the margin or to describe sound effects tho.

I have noticed that some manga writers have a tendency to troll the readers in the original text. And some genres with no cohesive thought or reason require the reader to quarantine 98% of their available brain cells in a vault, before bludgeoning the remaining 2% into a stupor in a attempt to make sense of what they just encountered. (The Gipkya tag examples come to mind )

Shouldn't we give Chillock the reason of the doubt , and if another uploader's version comes up, choose the series translation you prefer?

No we can't and we don't need to bother, we're not the ones that need to prove it's actually inaccurate, it's you because you came up with the accusations. And you still haven't done anything other than pointing your finger.

And it's obvious you didn't open the chapter link I gave you, because that was a very similar case of partial gibberish and meme translation that happened recently, and apprarently it didn't violate the meme TL rule.
