I liked her original look better, her original body looked cuter, but oh well, the setting is inspired by medieval to early ir mid victoriana European setting from what I am seeing... though these folk always seem to forget Spain, Italy and mid France do exist and there are plenty of decently tanned folk there.

Though again, to be fair, the focus on being pale skinned over tanned seems to be prevalent back yonder, be it in Asia or in Europe.
