Chotto Ippai! - Vol. 6 Ch. 38 - The Beginning

Hey guys, we were on vacation for a bit. It has been a while but here's chapter 38. This was a lovely flashback. The raws for chapter 39 just came out today, we'll work on that as soon as possible. Cheers.

thanks for translation but was that "rub da dub" thing needed?

@ksen they have a list of lots of "sayings" for itadakimasu. If you look through the chapters, you'll see they use different ones. It's just a thing they do.

@Ichigo69
I just have seen that phrase in other translations.
It just too dumb of a phrase which rubs me a wrong way, completely distracting from reasing, I don't understand why it exists.

It's hard to please every reader. When we tl'd it correctly, some readers didn't like it. And when we did a somewhat whimsical tl, people don't like it as well. In the end, we all know it's Itadakimasu. If it irks you so much, I'll make sure to avoid it in C39, I'm typesetting it now. @ksen

@LuluDaebak
It's your translation, you are free to do what you want with it.
Just saying that from mine perspective that phrase looks like some dumb internet meme, which is way more out of place than just any other replacement I've seen.

You just gunna walk in with a new chapter, make me cry, and leave me again.

Keep on translating itadakimasu how you want. It always makes my day to see what you guys write down.

MAY I PRESUME ITS TIME TO CONSUME

@LuluDaebak personally i prefer those types of words(the ones that doesnt really have a good trans for) kept in romaji but you keep translating how you want. its your tl so if you want to trans it to rub a dub dub or it shall partake in this meal or its time to ingest the now unliving i wont mind as they are all correct (may not fit the situation but still correct)

@LuluDaebak You weren't talking to me, but... It's not that localizing Itadakimasu bugs me specifically, it's that localizing it to that particular phrase bugs me. That phrase is extremely silly, and immediately destroys my immersion in the chapter.

You can, of course, choose to translate it however you wish, I would just like to ask if it would be possible to translate that word into something that doesn't so completely disrupt the tone and atmosphere of the scene it's in.
