Probably just a case of the artist becoming more “natural” at drawing his own characters. Chapter 1 art tends to be different as the artist becomes more comfortable with posing their characters or learning preferred ways to draw them.

Just look at chapter one of “We Cant Study” Nariyuki Yuiga compared to the moeblob he has become. Or TLR volume 1 art to TLR’s first volume.
