Well, this is something that's been splitting her up inside as well. Idols have a certain image in Japan, and because of that she won't be able to have a boyfriend for the whole duration of her career as an idol, so it'll be a long wait for the mc (or she quits, shich won't be much of a bright decision).
If she does get a boyfriend while still an idol, then chaos will ensue.

From a realistic standpoint, this is the best choice. Yuugai needs to forget about his unrealistic love. Mao clearly shows that she loves him. The actress shouldn't even know that he exists. If he turns her down and his excuse is "I like Nanoka," I'm done. I shudder to think what would end up happening to Yuugai if the actress didn't like him back.
