Curbing harrassment of groups

Currently groups that are taken advantage of and used by spam accounts to upload rule breaking chapters are sent harmful messages by users who aren't aware of the situation. Some, despite being told what's going on, continue to do so. I know it'd add more work, but is there a notice or something y'all could put in the comment section on these groups? Wasn't sure if this should go here or in suggestions.

More serious measures should probably be taken with false group attributions, since someone who made a throwaway account to do nonsense like that once will probably do it again

@MrIncognito It's happened more than once. I've only caught it 3 times now, but I'd imagine it happens almost daily.

I agree steps need to be taken to stop these shameless uploaders as they are smearing the names of these groups.

To do what you say it is not enough to increase the severity of the regulation, you must also implement somehow the settings (forgive me but I am not reminded of the right terms) of when creating an account.
It is necessary to ensure that the user can compulsorily create a single account, something like entering certain data or preventing them through some type of setting to create an additional account from that smartphone or from that computer.
I am not good at these things but I seem to have seen sites use this method.

@Ifrittuccia I'm not really talking about curbing the rule breaking uploaders. I'm talking about informing users that these rule breaking uploaders are using group names that they aren't a part of so the users don't harass those groups.

There is option to limit upload to specific person, while afaik it's only allow option for group member only, it is possible to use that to stop random person using your group to upload spam.

@BestBoy I think readers don't care so much (at least not everyone) who uploads the chapters.
If the chapters are loaded without the team's permission then just report them and the mangadex staff will take care of canceling the chapters and taking action.
But if they create dedicated accounts then a more severe approach is needed, at least I see them as bots at that point and they can also be harmful to the groups that suffer this thing. '^^

@Ifrittuccia Again I'm not talking about the uploaders so stop bringing them up. The mods already know about that and they're usually taken care of within a few minutes. I'm talking about users telling groups to kill themselves.

Then there's nothing of value lost when people spamming their comment box on MD. it's not like the group actually read those when they don't even bother to claim the group page. Let people yapping there and the mod could clean up later when the relevant party come out.
If it's actually harmful message, you could report it and let the mod clean them later.

@pikokola There's nothing wrong with wanting the mods to take preventative measures. I'd rather the relevant party not have to deal with it at all.

Also, this is the support page, not the suggestion page. This isn't a discussion. This is me requesting support from the staff.

If you just wants support on cleaning up the matter, then better use the report button on the infringing comments instead of posting here, that's what those buttons for. To begin with, Nobody could help you if you don't point on which group being bashed for this matter. Saying "the group which is used by spam account" doesn't really help as there are already dozens of groups used by the spam account, and I doubt anyone keep the record.

@pikokola This post is not addressed to random people. I put it in support because I was addressing staff. I was telling them, not you or any other rando, about my uncertainty in where it was supposed to go. It certainly reads more like a request for support than a suggestion seeing as it's asking for mod intervention and not asking for a new feature to be programmed into the site. Also I'm allowed to change my mind on something. I wasn't sure then, but after thinking about it I'm sure now. This isn't some debate where I have to stick to my thesis.

I've already reported once, but I'd much rather the mods nip it in the bud than have to keep coming back to remove comments. It'd be less work for them in the long run until they get a handle on the rule breaking uploaders. Additionally, the mods are 100% aware of what groups would need this support since they remove the chapters and ban the uploaders using these groups.

I don't know why you came in this support thread, but all you've done so far is derail the request.

That group has been used at least twice. You'll notice the moderated comment that I reported.

Would it be possible to use a flair on those who been repeatedly moderated? As a dishonour symbol I guess?

Telling Internet people not to be rude is the same as giving out pamphlets to strangers not to cuss. Basically useless. Internet anonymity makes people less accountable for their actions. Unless they have important privileges that can be stripped away, any threat is empty to them.

Blanket censorship is also frowned upon by this community so making non-swearing/harassment algorithms would also be useless.

I can't think of any measures that could potentially curb harassment unless devs go IP banning or create a new desirable feature that they can lock people out of.

For those who are fooled by non group members uploading troll chapters. I guess MD can also implement different flairs for non-group member uploads and group member uploads. But this another story.

@Teddy Make a comment explaining the situation, and lock the comment section on groups whose names have been used until said groups claim their page or staff has a handle on the rule breaking uploaders.

They've already done something similar on the "It's Time For 'Interrogation', Princess!" comment section since people were losing their minds in the comments about MangaPlus.
