@Silwith True, they could. But you must also admit that MC's father have a huge attitude as well. In fact, MC's mother fell for him because he is so hostile to them even at a young age. Not because he had the right reasons, not because he knew the reason, but simply because he gave them the middle finger. So, from the beginning, 'talking' isn't even on the menu.

@IMACOP If you are the king of the country, and cant get down from your high horse to talk to someone who has a bad opninion of you, than you are in the wrong position and should be enthroned immediately. He is the RULER, its his job to do the best for his people, even the ones who dont like him, if he dont even try to find a way to communicate with people that have a bad opinion, instead sheming against them on such a level...

Nope, absolutly no point for the king here, i dont say that her father and mother are perfect, but that... its an author thing so i think, to have a baddie... if the king really was intelligent enough (as shown by his sheming) he would have at least tried the peaceful approach, his attitude is for the plot, it doesnt really align with how the character is shown to be an intelligent man i would say.

That's precisely what the father's counting on. He isn't stupid, he knows his son's not really as vicious as he is. That's why he wants Ellen: he knows the hero and spirit queen hate the royal family, but if he can get a love story out of his innocent son and their daughter, that's his path to victory.

@Silwith What you said is true, but MC's family isn't just citizens. They are nobles sworn to the royal family, and in return, afforded their rights and privileges. The MC's dad is concerned about his family's noble status and position, but he is almost outright hostile to the people granting them that privilege. With that, you can even consider MC's dad to be dishonorable and treacherous, with his overt display of hostility. Also, there is no way to communicate because the other party outright refuses to deal with them, the only possible bridge is an overwhelming powerful subject with questionable loyalties at best. It's exactly because he is the ruler that he is doing all the nasty shit to MC's family to make sure they stay in line and protect the kingdom.

And it's because of his constant 'pissing them off' and the intervention of MC, that the royal family will finally break the stalemate and get the reason why the spirits hate them, and know how to treat MC family.

Also, I'm assuming you meant dethrone instead of enthrone.

@IMACOP Yeah, i meant dethroned, i would say it was because english isnt my first language, but it was just a brainhiccup i guess... q.q

And yeah, as i said, the mother and the father are far from perfect, and it would be sure way easier if BOTH parties would try to be a bit more reasonable (while we not exactly know about the things in the past), but it seems as if the father could probably take over the kingdom with help of the spirits, since they are so revered that the people would be on his side, not the kings, and in this context the kings actions are still dumb, and that annoys me, since he is portrayed as an intelligent man with his shemings, but if he is that intelligent than the sheming doesnt make sense in the first place, its just this loop... I mean, think you will be with me that the attidude is for plot no? ^^ Even if he wouldnt be all friendly, logically he would at least try a more friendly approach, since there is no risk in at least trying, while a confrontative approach is always with risks.

@Silwith Yeah. The author really tried to make the king as some really nasty scheming bastard and all, but if you look carefully, it really amounts to simple harassment. Harassment to get a cooperative relationship going, at that.

@Notsuki_Ame - the spirits really, really don't want to be related to the royal family until they redeem themselves. Even if it means MC's uncle is going to have relationship trouble. Ordinary relationship trouble is something that can be solved.
Remember that for Origin and her daughter, Goddess of Marriage isn't a higher being, but just a friendly relative.
