Gosh, I thought the point of all of this was for Shunin to realise the need to communicate better. It literally took another guy to explain his point of view to her. At this stage she should just end it and go with someone who actually boosts her self esteem and confidence

What people have to realize is, Nakahara Aya's ideal of love is not really about romance. It's not about sweet compliments and dream dates. It's more of a peasant thing--a couple of people happily bickering with each other until they're 90. Her couples are usually like that.
Even after almost 25 years of marriage, I myself am somewhat more about the cheesy romantic lines and nice dates, but I can appreciate her style too. And it makes for fun dialogue.

That said, even I have to admit that the bickering lately could stand to be a bit happier.

I really love the couple Shunin and Shibata but it hurts to hear that he makes her anxious. I know everyone has their own personality and sometimes it's hard to be more "tender" or "softer" but come on, even though I was uncomfortable with Shibata having a date with Nagumo, he treated her correctly (tbh he was far above the tenderness bar) at least. Maybe Shunin could give her a compliment every now and then to make her feel less of a trash? It's true that it's funny when they 'argue' but if he keeps putting her down, she will 'sink deep into another depression and this time it will be because of him. I don't think he should / be able to show her his love like Nagumo did but to do a little gentle gesture without having any further reason or without there being a special event that would be nice (
He shouldn't wait until she's in distress to show her that he loves her, she already has a problem with her confidence, better not make this worse ...
