Darwin's Game - Ch. 88

Guys guys, calm down. The anatomy is off because it's Shuka's dream, remember? Dreams tend to be weird. Hahaha!

I can’t believe how many people are triggered by the last page. No the artist didn’t suffer a sudden aneurysm, it’s cus our brains don’t genuinely have a great understanding of bodies, so when we dream the proportions are off. That’s what’s happening here, it’s how Shuka’s unconscious brain makes them look.

"No internet so we don't know shit" these people (well, the author) don't know about HAM radio it seems...

@karmsand ham radio only works over a small region (18 miles) like maybe they could contact another city and likely the military would be using encryption as ham radio is rather outdated and only seen by enthusiasts.

@immortalartisan in a time of crisis more people would use it and if you build a net (heh) you can cover a longer distance. If we exclude ham radio it would still be possible to create a "wireless lan" with computers and normal wi-fi or with microwave antennaes etc.
I mean it's a convenient plot device to cut communications but it always feels strange to me that people knowlegable in these kind of useful fields always disappear in post apocalyptic scenarios.

I went back to chapter 7 where the meeting is. This is unfortunately not a time rewrite like I was hoping. In ch 7, among differences in timing and dialogue where she notices/sees Kaname first, Shuka is wearing black instead of white. (Timing wise only ch7 makes sense due to the statue being in mostly normal condition)
This is either a dream, or an alternate reality. If it’s an alternate reality, I really hope Shuka isn’t in danger that she can’t handle alone.

A private wish I have is that Kanames height is accurate, instead, this is future-Kaname who grew a bit taller. In other words, we have a future Kaname pulling a similar dream trick going into the past or n alternate world (only ways the statue is fine), meeting with the current world Shuka. In that case we will get a bit of brain-bending fun with time-travel which will explain Kaname’s choice in traveling back in time to warn Shuka... my guess would be something happen in the world of the Oni where the Greed begins invading the other world too, thus Shuka must stay and help them using Kaname’s future information...
I also don’t hope for that because it will mean current-time-Kaname and Shuka can’t reunite for a while...

@karmsand
TL;DR Greed can fake ANY not-in-person communication.

aside from people who can detect Greed, civilians with technical experience or anybody related to communications would have been my first target to attack. Not only that, communications are much less useful as agreed verification MUST BE IN PERSON, meaning any communications can be falsified until a physical in-person meetup occurs. At least, that’s how I would cripple the international teamwork if I was the Greed invader. There’s probably a few more tricks to pull, such as impersonating Greed-verifiers (they are the highest value targets so far, even above top fighters or communication abilities).

That first page is dangerous...

Shuka is like 15 isn't she? Gotta see what she looks like older.

Future Alt!Kaname feels like his head's a bit too small, but proportion-wise he's fine. The standard adult male is 7 heads tall, with 3 heads to the torso and 4 to the legs.

Ah yes, classic dream sequences, visiting an alternate timeline of what could have been.

@Paulo27 She was 16 at the start. But people forget about the one and a half to two years that have passed, so she is about 17 or 18. Sui should also be around 17. The wiki legit ignores the time that passed from the start of the manga and the start of the pirate event. Not to mention the Oni arc.

@thekuuderedude pretty sure that it is suposed to be. This is her mind, her dream so everything is in Shojo mode. It's a fairly creative way to show a dream sequence.

Gorilla-chan x Kaname ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)?
