Daybreaking Romance - Ch. 8

bruh i HATE hazing/grade hierarchy for this exact reason. i understand that some seniors have knowledge/tips to pass onto their juniors, but that doesn’t mean that you can make other people your dog. especially in college when you’re all adults. i could see this happening in high school or something, but even then it’d be immature. also peak victim blaming here. this guy constantly harasses these siblings and saebyeok is the one who’s wrong for sticking up for himself and his sister? lol wack.

Unfortunately, I don't think this will get any better until that sunbae gets thrown in jail (or meets our friend truck-kun). Just when Saebyeok was (maybe) starting to get closer to Gwangchae, along comes who knows how many chapters of crappy drama we'll have to endure before Saebyeok and Gwangchae can resume their non-relationship. I hate this kind of shitty plot device.

I love the twins' relationship....but this is so sad. And what's with the hazing culture there, or the age hierarchy in general ? I really don't get how being just one year older makes them feel they have so much authority.

I notice that although there's definitely a similar age hierarchy in Japanese fiction, it still seems quite culturally different. A Japanese senpai is, like, respected, but it's this two-way street . . . sure, there's an expectation of a little bit of respect, but also there's this obligation to help your kouhai out. It's paternalism, but in a fairly positive way. And it's not a real obligation--if a senpai acts like a dick there isn't this strong expectation of not talking back. In Korean fiction OTOH it's like this license to bully, where it's not about respect but about obedience and knuckling under, and the sunbae who honours the obligation to help out in return is a rare treasure.

This chapter just felt like a complete and abrupt change in pace and story from the rest...
It was kinda boring, but I hope the next one goes back to the original storyline

I'm so glad the sister got her head very firmly on her shoulders with her impeccable logic and reasoning (which I don't see often in manhwas).

And noooo, this is where Saebyeok will start to get traumatized I assume?

Noona (unnie), you're the best. The stuff he said and the way he's cornering them, of course one would react. And he didn't even react badly/unreasonably, just being caught up bc everybody doesn't know what's going on

what's wrong with them. I think I'd react way more violently if someone kept pestering me like this insulting me and my sibling, threatening me and going physical.

This is what I hate in SoKor's college. Why do they give a sh!t in their sunbae's. It will only give their seniors a reason to take advantage of them.

What's with this...I came for the fluff not for our cute and insecure ML to be treated badly ;A;
