DDoS Attack Causing Slow Loading

At this point, it's merely speculation (and I doubt we'll ever know the true identity of the attacker) but if I were to wager, it would be someone who has a grudge against MD or someone who stands to gain from diverting traffic from us.

Even so, I don't give up.
Today the site is still slow, but somehow usable. I'm staying here even with the site in this condition, rather than give satisfaction to an AD bloated aggregator.
 
I dont mind using those AD bloated aggregator. Im using Adblock anyways so no money from me 😁
 
This is why we can't have nice things. MD have the best UI and no-ads, ddos-ing just for the sake of rivalry is understandable but lmao that's some desperate bullshit.
 
I seriously bet it is KissManga. Is there a way of doxing their administrative staff? If you have real life information aren't their people willing to do physical violence against them for just a payment in cryptocurrency? Hell, if they were near me I'd do the violence myself. There is no way they'd ever connect a seemingly random act of violence to DDoS attack on a rival manga site.

We basically have no legal recourse, so why shouldn't we resort to violence? Some unknown entity out their is perpetrating a malicious and illegal assault on collective interests. We have to respond in some way or they win. With the way things are going they'll be able to inflict their violence consequence free. The only rational thing to do is to respond with a more extreme action otherwise their assault will continue.

Physical violence may seem, but I can't stand people who think they are entitled to do whatever disgusting want with no fear of consequences. I don't personally a problem with ending someone's life over DDoS attack on manga site. Chances are perpetrator is a truly evil person and their existence needs to be erased. They're the sort that would destroy people's live if they held an actual power. Their existence likely causes pain to everyone around them. They are of no use to anyone. From a Utilitarian standpoint it would really be better to kill them before they take their entitled attitude into the real world and cause problems.
 
@zerimas while I do agree that something needs to be done, and there need to be consequences, I think you've got a pretty extreme idea there. Committing a crime just because they did it first isn't gonna fly in court

Even if you installed adblockers+scriptblockers, there's a chance something might slip through. Who got grudges against MD? Maybe aggregators like kissmanga.

To mangadex staff about how much money would be needed monthly to pay for DDOS protection from cloudfare? I feel as though if you would give a number or estimate enough people would donate to meet it.
Or even having a donation bar showing monthly cost and how many month reserve you may have could encourage donations.

Just giving them page views still helps them. It will help them get more relevant, especially in search engines, where more people will find it and use it. And those sites host the manga from other sites, similarly to how Batoto started requiring being logged in to view manga since other sites were hosting them and using up their bandwidth while they get no ad revenue or donations from the people reading manga on those sites. You contribute to all of this by using those aggregator sites.
 
Violent "retaliation" based on speculation has another name: Lynching (in the older sense, before it became associated so closely with lynching "suspects" who look different). No sane, ethical person would want anything to do with it.

As a separate point, "Cool Japan" has been increasingly active over the years. They're partnered with organizations who have no trouble with "bending" the law to DDoS sites they associate with piracy (or even just related).

There are multiple reasonable suspects. Picking one for violence based on a "hunch" sounds like something from a dystopian fantasy.

Is this where I sign up for the trenchcoat katana mafia? If you ask me this wasn't done by a rival aggregator, I mean look at the facts so far. The deep state perpetrated this with the help of lizard people, there is no other conclusion. Its so obvious.

Who ever it is they're just doing it for the kicks likely... The site was fine most of the day then around when people would be getting out of work or kids would be getting home from school my area everything slowed again. Bet this is some A-hole that didnt get the chapter they think they deserve or found out their fav series just got dropped cuz it sucks squirrel nuts as hard as they do.

Lizard people would not do this they are all people of culture. If anyone wanted to do this it would be those mole people (but they are notoriously lazy), the Crab People (they are not smart enough to do this), or the Angels Legion from Mahou Shoujo Pretty☆Bell cause they are kinda crazy.
