You can't rely on children, or most adults for that matter, to recognize what evil is. true evil always hides behind the mask of someone pleasant that tells people the things they want to hear. or even worse, it is the whisper in your ear that tells you to never doubt yourself.

@lupus_in_fabula you have to remember that the universe depicted in still rooted in reality. There would be a suspension of disbelief rather than an actual belief in her having "powers", and it was most obviously orchestrated as an overt show of social power from the popular kid.

This is becoming a great example of how the resentful both seek and abuse power, while maintaining a feeling of justification for any deed because it is all a means to a greater end. It's how revolutions happen, and how they devolve inevitably into abject violence. It's how terrorism happens. It's how school shooters and mass murderers happen.
