Awesome fight! Also, the cannon being corrupted reminds of a Suikoden game for the PSP. They got a thing like that too if i remember correctly. Turn people into fish monsters?

@Delu probably uses more mp for a demon like him to use a dead monsters skill. I imagine it also has better mobility with its wings not using mana and flying with the galgahorn or w.e its called probably kills its speed in flight or it couldn't fly with it and it needed to be in the air to aim the cannon

I do like the "Evil will will evil mar" bit with the bandits and the jar.
After how many chapters this dumb battle has taken, the ending feels a little rushed... but that's just an artistic thing; maybe we can move the story forward a little, now? Maybe girl from the starting city can say hello?
Maybe I'm just bored from quarantine... lol...

@Fuew12 No, it was a 3 times use magic. But as I said earlier, he already has it in his magic repertoire and can use it anytime, because he only need to use any magic or touch any magic once to add them to his magic list. In the anime, after he used the 3 meteor to obliterate everything in dragon valley he actually use it once again to check whether he can or not, and he can, and the destruction power even surpassed the original 3 because of his 300+ level. As a WN reader, I'll just say that he'll use meteor again sometimes later in the story.

@Syanalassa Yeah, it's basically a calamity class magic, he could easily change the topography if he use it, not to mention people would feel like it's the end of the world.

The demon didn't block the magic, it was the shield. It's a powerful magic item, like the magic cannon the demon tries to use. The spell Satou uses; Magic arrow, is a beginner level spell. If it was D&D it would be the equivalent of a 1st level spell like magic missile. A level 300+ wizard can cast a lot of them, and they'd do a helluva lot more damage than one cast by a 1st level, but it's still a level 1 spell. The shield nullifies all beginner level spells. A D&D example would be a magic item that nullifies all spell effects of level 1-3.

This isn't the first time he runs into this problem, nor will it be the last time. It's the reason why he's been so kee on learning spells, especially intermediate and higher level spells.

Now that the WN series is finally over, I believe he had 4, maybe 5 formidable opponents he really struggled with, including a really slippery opponent that Satou wasn't sure he'd dealt with, even after the fact.

@fuadhika - touching spells only unlocks magic skills for Satou, it does not give him any ability to actually use spells.

@Cephi I am under impression that races aren't equal. That demon is just level 40, but a level 40 human knight would probably lose to him. Likewise, Forest Giants are more dangerous than their level would indicate.

@flannan That's what I was saying. Any magic that he touch (and cast) once will be added to his list. He doesn't need to chant any spell to use everything in that list, so it's basically become a skill. He still can't chant new magic cause he's tone deaf af, but that just mean that he just has to touch or get hit by any magic he want, not to mention he'll also automatically gain resistance to said magic if he got hit by that.
