Also yes, a daughter of nobility from "cursed" land would have a hard time finding a good husband. The baron can't just marry her to a random nobody, the man has to demonstrate at least some suitably heroic achievements.

@CountryMage I think it's that but also Counselor Nina is really pushing for it behind the scenes if I remember right. She's depicted as being really savvy in the series and she wants a blood connection between Satou and the Baron's family. I think Arisa also impresses her quite a bit.
