I think it will raise more suspicion towards him instead.
As the police will investigate the crime and try to analyze everything that just happened. Not to mention, the agent is there too so the details will be on point right now.
He could have tried a different plan or something that will not draw any attention to him at all. But we will see how this plays out later on.
